PreFlight is an event put on by AAF Spokane (American Advertising Federation). Basically, it’s speed dating, but with professionals. You get about 7 minutes to show a professional designer your portfolio, introduce yourself, and receive feedback before moving on to the next person.
I was tasked with designing a poster, website header, and Facebook banner to enter into the event contest.
Funny story about this one.
For this project I had some ideas, I had tried a few layouts, but I just wasn’t happy with it. It had reached the night before it was due and I stayed up way too late and played around with it some more.
Finally, something clicked and I went in a completely different direction than my sketches, but I still included the speech bubble from a previous version in the final design.

I wanted to incorporate speech bubbles to represent the communication involved with talking to professionals at the event, so I’m happy that I was able to keep that element in the end.
